Effervescent tablets for cleaning removable dentures

This eview of the effectiveness of effervescent tablets in the cleaning and sanitising of removable prostheses included 23 RCTs. Six RCTs contributed to meta-analyses which indicate that use of brushing and effervescent tables reduce biofilm and bacterial conts more than brushing alone.

This review of techniques and materials used for the management of deep caries in immature permanent teeth included 12 RCT papers. The findings suggest high success rates for pulpotomy, but only a small number of papers were available for other techniques.

Sagittal split osteotomy – Do third molars increase the risk of complications?

This review investigating whether the presence of third molars during sagittal split osteotomy of the mandible increases the risk of complications included 15 studies. The findings suggests no statistically significant relationship between the presence of 3Ms and complications. However a majority of the studies were retrospective with 13 studies being considered to be at high risk of bias so the certainty of the evidence is considered to be very low.
