This review of prevalence of root filled teeth in the adult population worldwide included 76 observational studies. The findings suggest that 8.2% (95%CI; 7.3% to 9.1%) of teeth has been root filled and that 55.7% (95%CI; 49.6% to 61.8%) of people had at least one tooth root filled.

This review of the efficacy of prophylactic oral antibiotics in the management of post-operative endodontic symptoms included 10 RCTs. The findings and show that there is no superiority in using adjunctive antibiotics for the prevention of post-operative endodontic symptoms.

The Cochrane review of of materials for retrograde root filling identified 6 RCTs all at high risk of bias. The trials provide insufficient evidence to draw any conclusion as to the benefits of any one material over another so more high quality studies are needed.
