Composite resin restorations in posterior teeth – incremental or bulk fill?

This review of the performance (retention/fracture) of bulk-fill and incremental filled composite restorations place in the posterior teeth of adult patients included 14 RCTs. Only 4 of the studies were at low risk of bias and while no difference was shown between the two approaches but the number of failures was small small.

Microwave disinfection of acrylic dentures

This review of effect of microwave disinfection on the dimensional stability of denture base acrylic resins included 7 in-vitro studies. A wide range of microwave disinfection protocols were used with the reviewers specifying two protocols that may be safe. However because of the heterogeneity and the small number of studies included these finding should be considered cautiously.

The findings suggest similar survival rates in both clinica and field settings but the quality of the evidence is low.

This review evaluating clinical efficacy of analgesics in mitigating orofacial pain following dental implant surgery included 9 RCTs. While the findings suggest analgesics may be beneficial the number of studies is small an additional infromation is required on which medication,, dosage, dosing schedule, administration route and adverse effects.

No differences in failure rates were seen for composite resin,resin-modified glass ionomer cement or compomers although all included studies were at high risk of bias.

This review aimed to evaluate the association of preoperative factors or intraoperative factors with treatment outcomes of vital pulp therapy. 14 RCTs were included with the findings indicating a 93.2% (95%CI; 91-6% to 94.9%) success rate using contemporary bioceramic material based on low certainty evidence.
