This review assessing the impact of dietary omega-3 fatty acids as an adjunct to non-surgical periodontal treatment when compared with periodontal treatment alone included 10 trials ivolving a total of 467 patients. The studies found statistically significant improvements in clinical attachment level (CAL) and periodontal probing depth (PPD) but the studies are generally small and short-term.

This review of air polishing devices (APDs) in comparison with hand instruments and/or power-driven instruments in supportive periodontal treatment and implant maintenance included 6 RCTs. 4 of the 6 included studies were considered to be at high risk of bias so the findings should be interpreted cautiously.

While the findings suggest improvements in pocket depth and clinical attachment level only 6 of the studies contributed to the meta-analyses and the number of events and studies are small so the findings should be viewed cautiously.
