This review of the efficacy of adjunctive photodynamic therapy (aPDT) on reducing bacterial load in the primary endodontic treatment of teeth with chronic apical periodontitis included 8 studies. While the findings suggest a benefit from aPDT the limited number and quality of the availabel studies mean the findings should be interpreted cautiously.

This review of the efficacy of adjunctive photodynamic therapy (PDT) on root canal treatment in primary teeth included 4 studies. The included studies were small and of short duration and lacked clinically relevant outcomes. Larger high quality well conducted studies with follow up periods of at least 12 months are needed to assess the role of PDT in primary teeth.

This review comparing the effectiveness of different surgical methods for peri-implantitis included 13 parallel group RCTs. However, a wide variety of interventions were tested and the studies were generally small providing very low certainty evidence. Consequently additional high quality well reported studies are needed.

This review of the comparative efficacy of interventions used for the treatment of denture stomatitis(DS) included 35 RCTs with 25 studies contributing to the meta-analyses. The findings suggest that topical antifungal agents produced the most effective clinical improvement and microwave disinfection and topical antifungals the best mycological resolution. Only one of the RCTs was at low risk of bias so the findings should be interpreted cautiously.

This review of adjunctive therapies during supportive periodontal care (SPC) in patients with residual/relapsing pockets included 12 studies that currently provide insufficient/poor evidence to determine the efficacy of adjunctive strategies to improve SPC.

This review of comparing photodynamic therapy (PDT) and antifungals or the treatment of denture stomatitis included 5 studies involving a total of 218 patients. While the findings suggest that PDT is effective none of the the studies was at low risk of bias and the treatment protocols investigated differ.

This review looked at the efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) for the treatment or oral lichen lplanus (OLP) and compares PDT with steroid therapy. 16 studies were included with the findings suggesting that photodynamic therapy may offer patients with OLP improved pain relief and better efficacy compared to topical corticosteroids.

This review of the adjunctive effects of lasers or antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) to non-surgical periodontal treatment included 17 RCTs. The studies were small and hetrogeneous including just 701 patients in total and of low quality providing very limited evidence.
