The overall aim of this review is to assess the effectiveness of dental auxiliaries in providing care traditionally provided by dentists.
Specific objectives are to compare the effectiveness of dental auxiliaries compared with dentists in:
- the diagnosis of oral diseases and conditions
- their technical competence in the delivery of some aspects of dental care;
- oral education and other oral health promotion measures; and
- delivering dental care that is acceptable to patients.
