New Cochrane Protocols March 2012

March sees another two protocols registered with the Cochrane Oral Health Group.  The protocols are available on the Cochrane Library

The overall objective of the review is to evaluate the effects of non-fluoride topical remineralising agents (NFTRA-Ca/Ps) containing any formulation of calcium and/or phosphate at any concentration and in any topically-applied delivery vehicle (including but not limited to toothpastes, mouthrinses, varnish, creams, chewing gum, lozenges) for controlling caries i.e. preventing the development or progression of dental caries or promoting the arrest or reversal of caries.

The aim is to evaluate the efficacy of intraoperative local anaesthesia to reduce postoperative pain following general anaesthesia for dental treatment in children and adolescents

Derek retired from the NHS in 2019 remaining as a part-time senior lecturer at Dundee Dental School until the end of 2023.
