Vanessa (she/they) is a queer-identifying clinician who often finds themselves wearing many intersecting hats. Vanessa is a CAMHS clinician at CAMHS Disability, Hackney Ark, HUH Trust and an incoming trainee clinical psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire. Vanessa holds an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience from King's College London. Vanessa credits much of her critical thinking skills through the lens of social justice, and LGBTQ+ activism to her migration history and lived experience. She holds a deep appreciation and gratitude towards Dr Kenneth Hardy on his work around racial injustice, and Dr Dee Watt-Jones for her work around locating oneself in the therapeutic and supervising spaces. Queer and intersectional theorists have become intertwined with a deep valuing of compassion-led approaches, alongside systemic theory and practice. Vanessa's interests include Intersectionality, gender diversity, LGBTQ+ topics from history to queer theory, the intersection of race, culture, language and queerness. Current socio-political climate in the UK, NHS and gender affirming care, gender affirming talking therapy.
