Dr Dan Warrender is a Registered Mental Health Nurse and Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing, who completed a PhD exploring crisis intervention for people diagnosed with 'borderline personality disorder'. Dan has been interested in 'personality disorder' for over 15 years, bringing experiences of working in acute mental health and psychotherapy into writing and research, and producing several presentations and publications on the issue. Dan has been actively involved in the executive committees for the Scottish Personality Disorder Network, the British and Irish Group for the Study of Personality Disorder and the Royal College of Nursing Mental Health Forum. A vocal critic of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and their approach to mental health nurse education, Dan also started the campaign group 'Mental Health Deserves Better', which actively resists generic nursing education and argues for the complexity of the mental health nursing role to be recognised. Dan also works privately offering therapy, training and consultancy.
