I am a Research Assistant in the Suicide Prevention team at Orygen, the Centre for Youth Mental Health, at the University of Melbourne. I primarily support the #chatsafe program of work, which seeks to prevent youth suicide through social media-based psychoeducation and digital literacy interventions. My work to date has focused on developing and evaluating evidence-based resources and co-designed social media campaigns to improve online safety regarding self-harm and suicide, and previously, I have supported a range of research, evaluation and knowledge translation activities seeking to improve mental health and quality of life outcomes for the Australian community through gatekeeper training and consumer-directed care. I have a strong interest in suicide prevention among the autistic community, particularly autistic youth, as a group that experiences substantially higher rates of suicidal thoughts, behaviours and deaths than the general population, and is drastically under-represented in suicide prevention literature and policy.
